Hello everyone, John from Cool English with some fun Valentines activities this week. February is the month of love, so I thought some love themed activities were appropriate. This week I have Valentine’s Day Vocabulary, and Famous Love Quotes. The vocab is good for basic and intermediate groups, while the love quotes are more for intermediate to advanced groups.
Valentine’s Day Vocabulary
Learn – 30 words with matching photos and definitions in easy, medium, and hard levels.
Multiple Choice – photos and fill-in-the-blank phrases, click on the correct word choice.
Definition Game – jeopardy game of hearing the definition and guessing the words.
Video Clips – watch short video clips and repeat the three words heard in each video.
Open Questions – ask and answer the 12 conversation questions.
Slot Machine – see three pictures for a few seconds, then repeat the words.
Famous Love Quotes
This game of famous love quotes asks students to read or listen then try to explain the meaning. I find this a fun activity to practice students’ pronunciation and reading/listening comprehension. Students find it challenging to explain the quotes. I usually do a few in class and then assign the rest as homework.
