Hey, guys here is a fun little speaking activity I adapted from Tiktok. It’s called the acting challenge and it’s a fun way to get students speaking while putting a little timed pressure on them. There is a kids version and a normal version.
First, choose a TV series or movie scene and ask the student to act with the person in the video. Tell them to read their lines when they appear on the screen. If they read too slow the person in the video will interrupt them and if they read too fast there will be a gap between the lines. I normally pause it a little bit for more basic students.
Second, go over their pronunciation and delivery. I like to show how students tend to give the same stress to all words thus sounding monotone or robotic.
Finally, I try to gamify it by giving points to the best performance, or no points if they get cut off by the video more than once.
