Hey guys, John from Cool English with two new activities inspired by TikTok. One is a great speaking activity called Voice Acting Challenge, suitable for all ages and levels. The other is called Fact or Cap and is a listening activity for older and more advanced students as there is a little bit of explicit language.
First is the Voice Actor Challenge, a great speaking activity for your students. Students read the short script for a commercial. There is background music and professional readings for reference. I like to let them hear the pro-reading, and then I play the background music and have them read it. After, we go over any issues and compare their reading to the pro-reading. I do a few in class and assign some for homework, having the students record their readings.
The second is Fact or Cap, a popular channel on TikTok where two guys test trends to see if they are real (fact) or fake (cap). There is a language warning on this one as they tend to say a few bad words, so please only use it if it is okay in your class. I pause the video before they test the trend to ask the students their predictions. After the video, I have the students answer the three provided questions.
