Texting Acronym Game

Hey guys, John from Cool English again, and today I have a fun little game to review texting language. More specifically texting acronyms. These are fast and fun games for reviewing abbreviations found in modern texts and chats.

First, I talk about how texting has changed our language and how we constantly abbreviate things. You might highlight some text acronyms in the students’ native language if possible.

Second, I separate the class into teams and have them choose a number. Either I ask them to write down the answers and reveal them together, or the team that chose the number gets the first chance to answer. If they answer incorrectly, the next team gets a chance. You can adapt the game in many ways depending on your group.

Third, award points to each team according to your ruleset. I ask the students to find ten more common texting acronyms as a homework assignment.
