Hey everyone, John from Cool English with a highly requested activity based on the simple present tense. This is a great intro for beginner students or a review for an intermediate-level class. There is a learn tab along with six different interactive reviews and an auto-correcting test.
LEARN – Chart highlighting the structure of the affirmative, negative, and interrogative forms with many examples and tips.
MULTIPLE CHOICE – easy multiple-choice review for the affirmative, negative, and interrogative forms.
OPEN QUESTIONS – simple questions to practice asking and answering the simple present.
FORM THE PHRASE – use the prompts to create phrases in different forms.
3 OPTIONS – this is a great review of all three forms, in which one is given, and students must provide the other two.
SHORT STORY – a simple cloze activity with revealable answers.
VIDEO CLIPS – very short clips of simple present phrases and questions, ask students to write or repeat what was said.
TEST- a short test of multiple choice and open answers. Try to get at least an 80% to pass.
I normally go over a few in class then assign a few more for homework by sending the activity link to my students. The next class we do a final review and the test.
I hope you all enjoy this, and it helps to liven up a boring grammar point. Check back next week for a cool new vocabulary activity.
