Hey guys, today I have an advanced listening activity to share. I love to use it as an example of how real-life speaking differs from textbooks.
I call it “Repeat The Question” and I play short videos of questions from TV shows or movies. Then I ask the students to write or repeat the questions and make it a game by awarding points for correct answers. I also ask them to copy the pronunciation of the video.
The focus is to see how we contract words in real life, especially aux verbs and question words. For example, “Where did you go?” becomes “Where’d you go” in real life, or “When are you leaving?” becomes “When’re you leaving?”.
It is also just a fun way to review listening to and answering questions.
I hope you enjoy it and let me know if you have any questions.
John
