https://www.coolenglish.net/edu/categories/picture-leveling (picture section) Are you ready to level up your students’ speaking and descriptive skills? Our popular Picture Leveling series just got a fresh update with brand-new, imaginative images! 🐠🤖🐶🐉🦛🚂 Each picture comes with three levels of difficulty, so you can tailor the activity to your class needs—great for warm-ups, cool-downs, or any time you want to inject some fun into your lesson!

How It Works

  1. Pick a Picture: From the funky robot fish 🐠🤖 to the hipster dog in sunglasses 🐶🕶️, select any of the six quirky images.

  2. Choose a Level:

    • Level 1: Reveal three key words (e.g., robot, fish, city). Have students use them to create a very short descriptive phrase, then show them the sample sentence (e.g., “A robot with a fish head walks in a city.”).

    • Level 2: Step it up with six words. Now students add more detail but still keep it concise (e.g., train, street, narrow, buildings, tracks, LEGO). Compare with the sample sentence for extra reinforcement.

    • Level 3: Go in-depth with a fully fleshed-out description, encouraging advanced vocabulary and richer imagery.

Classroom Tips

  • Warmer or Cooler: Use Picture Leveling at the start or end of class to energize students and get them talking.

  • Vocabulary Focus: After revealing each set of words, brainstorm synonyms or related words together.

  • Speaking or Writing: Practice as a spoken group exercise or assign written paragraphs for homework. Encourage peer feedback to build confidence.

  • Homework Extension: Assign different levels for different abilities. Fast finishers can move up to Level 3, while others can stay at Level 2 if needed.

Why Picture Leveling?

  • Engaging & Memorable: Eye-catching visuals—like a hippopotamus reading a book 📖🦛 or a building topped with a pink dragon 🏙️🐉—ignite curiosity and creativity.

  • Differentiation: Three-level scaffolding lets you accommodate diverse language skills in one activity.

  • Flexibility: Adapt to in-person or online learning environments.

Try these new Picture Leveling images today, and let your students have fun while they sharpen their English skills. Whether it’s for a quick speaking game or a homework writing task, these colorful prompts will keep them motivated!

Happy teaching! 🌟
