Hey everyone, John from Cool English with a fun new game called Incohearant or, it used to be called Mad Gab. I have adapted it for the classroom, and my students seem to enjoy it so, I hope yours do too.

First, I like to explain that this game is all about what you hear and not about what you see. Then I show the nonsensical words and ask them to pronounce each one. After, tell them to speak the words and listen for the hidden message. Either create teams or have them alternate individually.

For help, if you click on the words, the pronunciation will play. There is also a hint that you can reveal if the students can’t figure out the message.

Finally, reveal the answer and see if anyone got it right.

In real life sometimes people speak incoherently, and we have to try and decipher what was said. That's why this is such a great way to practice pronunciation and listening skills while playing a game.
