“Do, Can, Are you...?” – A Question Game 🧩
This engaging game focuses on practicing basic questioning and answering skills. Here’s how it works:
Visual Prompts: A grid of images provides visual cues for forming questions.
Colored Question Boxes: The words 'Do', 'Can', and 'Are' are provided in separate colored boxes. For instance, given an image of a girl playing the guitar, students might ask, "Can you play the guitar?" or "Are you playing the guitar now?"
Interactive Features: Clicking on an image once reveals a word, while a second click darkens the image to indicate it's been used. Click on 'DO', 'CAN', or 'ARE' to display a chart showing the correct question format.
Gameplay: Turn it into a fun competition by awarding points for correctly formed questions and answers.
“Year in Review 2023” – Reflecting on the Past Year 📆
Continuing our tradition at Cool English, this activity highlights twenty significant stories from the past year to encourage discussion:
Pick a Story: Students select from numbered circles, each revealing a different picture/story from 2023.
Discussion and Explanation: Students describe the story behind each picture to the best of their ability.
Reveal and Check: Click 'reveal headline' for a short story summary, which helps check understanding or award points for accurate explanations.
Versatile Usage: Use this as a structured point-based activity or a casual discussion starter about last year’s events.
Both activities are designed to promote active participation and enhance speaking skills. We hope these new additions provide enjoyable and meaningful learning experiences.
