Confusing Word Pairs

Updated: Aug 23, 2023

Hey everybody, John from Cool English with the weekly new activity. This week I have a new series called “Confusing Words or Confusing Pairs.”. Many word pairs confuse our students due to similar appearances or meanings. I hope to create a series highlighting the most common pairs.

First is a learning section explaining the differences between the two words. Then I have multiple choice, a definition game, fill-in-the-blanks, open questions, and even some video clips.

I like to do two to three reviews in class, then assign the rest as homework. Sometimes I ask them to record the answers to the open questions.

Please let me know if you have any ideas for other confusing pairs to put into the next set.

John
