BRANDS - Game, Grammar and Speaking

Updated: Aug 23, 2023

Hey, guys here is a new multi-part activity I am working on about brands. There are 3 parts to this activity. - First, there is guess the brand. A game that asks students to read 5 facts about a brand and try to guess what it is. For group classes, I tell them the first to answer correctly gets the point. For single students, I use the timer and tell them that if they must say the answer before the timer runs out. - Second is to guess the facts. In this activity, I show the students the brand and ask them to say anything they know about it. I then reveal the 5 facts and for each one that they mentioned I award a point. I then ask them to join the 5 sentences into 2. I ask them to use relative clauses and joining words. This is a great practice for joining ideas. For homework, I ask them to send me the joined facts for 2-3 brands. - Third is the company presentation activity. Here I present a list of facts from Wikipedia about the brands including many numbers. Then I ask the students to use the facts and present the company in a cohesive and intelligible way. This is great for more advanced students and business students. I find that talking about and presenting brands is a great way to start a conversation in class. John
