This week, we're excited to show off a great activity: Fry’s Sight Words. Developed by Dr. Edward Fry, this list captures the most common 1,000 words. It's a more modern alternative to the Dolch list.
Activity Overview:
Levels: 5 levels, each with 100 words, increasing in difficulty.
How It Works:
Students listen to a sentence with some missing words.
They must speak or write the missing words.
Teachers can click to reveal the answers.
Practice pronunciation by repeating the phrase with the sight words.
This activity is perfect for enhancing familiarity with the 500 most common words, and training listening, reading, writing, and speaking skills.
Implementation:
In Class: Start with practice sessions to ensure students understand the process.
Homework: Assign other sets for continued practice at home.
Give Fry’s Sight Words a try and watch your students' vocabulary skills soar! John
