Here are 3 new activities for the week.
1. First, there is a new music activity based on acapella or vocals-only song clips. The first one is from a Tik-Tok account I found @voceux, please check out the channel for more great videos. I find having only the vocals really helps the students. There are subtitles during the clip and multiple-choice and fill-in-the-blank activities.
2. Second is a speaking activity I call hot button issues. There are eight controversial political debate topics. Each one has three examples of arguments on the left and three on the right. I normally challenge my students to pick a side and present their case cohesively. I award points to the team that did a better job, or you can just use it as an open debate speaking activity. For homework, I ask them to write an essay defending one side of an issue. Please be careful with this one as it is political and might not be appropriate for some groups.
3. Third is a great little game to warm up or end the class. I have had one version on the site for a while but due to popular demand, I have added another one. Each set has five categories, click on the letter button until the students say stop and they need to think of one word from each category starting with that letter. If you click on the category I provide an A-Z list of examples.
